Stonecrest Mayor and Councilmembers receive recognition at the 2024 Cities United Summit

Stonecrest, GA – Mayor Jazzmin Cobble and multiple City Councilmembers were honored at the 2024 Cities United Summit hosted by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). This annual summit serves as a platform for Georgia officials to advocate for municipal priorities, fostering collaboration between local and state leaders.

Mayor Jazzmin Cobble, along with Councilwoman Tammy Grimes, Councilwoman Tara Graves, and Councilwoman Alecia Washington, were acknowledged for their outstanding commitment to professional development and excellence in municipal governance. Each Councilmember received a certificate recognizing their achievements.

 

The accolades were conferred as part of the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a series of programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of city officials in various municipal matters. These courses, conducted in partnership with the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, offer officials the opportunity to go above and beyond the mandated state requirements for training.

Mayor Jazzmin Cobble and Councilwoman Tammy Grimes received the Certificate of Achievement, a testament to their dedication and completion of 72 hours of training, including 36 hours from the required list and the Newly Elected Officials Institute. Councilwoman Tara Graves and Councilwoman Alecia Washington earned Certificates of Recognition for their respective accomplishments, which required 48 hours of training, including 18 hours from the required list and the Newly Elected Official Institute.

The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute provides officials with valuable opportunities for continued education and professional growth. Courses are offered in conjunction with GMA meetings as well as in standalone sessions throughout the year. The Municipal Training Institute is a joint initiative of the Georgia Municipal Association and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, overseen by the Municipal Training Board.
